Jerry was born in Taylor Township, Michigan, on November 5, 1941. As a child, he enjoyed fly fishing, ice fishing, and football - his parents raised him to savor time outdoors. Some of his favorite memories were spent sailing on the Great Lakes. He attended Bentley High School, class of ‘59, where he met treasured friends and organized their annual reunion every year.
As he graduated and began college at GMI, he discovered a love of skiing, which led him to the love of his life - Mary Ann Agius. They met at a ski resort - he kept his note from the night they met for the past 60 years. That’s how Jerry was - always cherishing those in his life and all the little moments with people he loved.
He was a lifelong Detroit Lions fan and proposed to Mary Ann at the Thanksgiving Day Lions game in 1965. They were married the following year and built a life together, with two kids and two successful careers. Jerry was a proud Air Force captain and went on to work as an engineer in the automobile industry. After retirement, Jerry enjoyed traveling the world over with Mary Ann and friends, volunteering at Grace Lutheran Church, long walks around his neighborhood, and visiting his grandkids.
Jerry was known for his kindness and caring demeanor toward all those he met. His personal philosophy centered around love and respect for others, being a good listener, and celebrating the wins of those around you. Jerry’s values and deep sense of character will continue to inspire and live on in us.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; two children, Lori (Steve) and Kevin (Lori); and 3 grandchildren - Emily, Sam, and Max. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he also loved greatly. He will be dearly missed.
