John William "Bill" Wright

John William "Bill" Wright, age 85, of Livonia, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Bill was born on October 27, 1939, in Kingston, Tennessee, to the late James and Mildred (Eblen) Wright. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Bill was preceded in death by his cherished wife of 53 years, Elaine, who passed away on August 13, 2013. Together, they shared a lifetime of love, raising a family and creating memories that will be treasured by all who knew them. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James "Ray" Wright.

Bill is survived by his children: Jean Wright, Janice (Norland David) Canouts, and John (Julie) Wright. He was also a proud grandpa to six grandchildren: Christopher, Norland Jr, Mark, John, Genevieve, and Elizabeth, and a great-grandpa to Norland IV.

Bill had a deep love for his family, and in his free time, he enjoyed spending time with them, reading on the history of Detroit, watching his favorite television shows, and taking road trips. He had many fond memories of traveling along Michigan’s state border and cherished the visits he made to Tennessee to reconnect with his extended family.

A long-time member of St. Edith Catholic Church in Livonia, Bill was devoted to his faith and was an active parishioner since moving to Livonia in the 1960s.

Bill’s legacy of love, faith, and family will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed.

A Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at St. Edith Catholic Church, 15089 Newburgh Road, Livonia, Michigan 48154. Bill’s family will receive visitors at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, and again at church on Wednesday from 10:30 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am. A burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery.
