Born on June 9, 1933, in Alamo, Tennessee, Larry was the son of Robert and Buna Norville. He grew up in a lively household alongside his six brothers, where he learned the values of family, faith, and perseverance that would guide him throughout his life. During high school, Larry discovered a love for running and went on to become a state champion in the mile, setting an impressive pace that earned him recognition and even a scholarship offer in Alabama—an accomplishment he remembered with pride.
Larry’s greatest blessing came when he met Flora “Nell” Norville, the love of his life. The two married young and spent the next 75 years building a life together, one centered on faith, devotion, and unconditional love. Their marriage was a shining example of partnership and perseverance, a bond that remained unbroken until Nell’s passing.
He was the beloved father of Phil (Janice) Norville, Larry Kimbal (Enola) Norville, and Steve (Penny) Norville; cherished grandfather to nine grandchildren; and proud great-grandfather to twelve great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Valton (the late Bobbi) Norville.
Larry’s faith was the foundation of his life. A longtime and devoted member of Garden City Church of Christ, he was active in his church community, finding joy in fellowship and service. His faith gave him strength in difficult times and gratitude in moments of blessing.
Outside of church and family, Larry loved to stay active. He enjoyed bowling, playing horseshoes, softball, and hunting, and he carried a lifelong passion for sports—especially as a devoted Detroit Tigers fan.
Visitation for Larry will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Harry J. Will Funeral Homes, 37000 W. Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM. Burial will take place privately at Parkview Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Garden City Church of Christ or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
