Robbie, beloved husband, is survived by his devoted wife Renee, loving father to Robert. Cherished son and fifth child of Joseph and Geraldine Pytel. Dear brother of Cathy (Paul) Smith, Joe, Ronnie (Annie), Karen Bidwell, Jimmy, and Gail (Mike) Kornatowski. Son-in-law of William and Jeannette Badtke. Brother-in-law to Cheryl Behrens and Mike Badtke. Respected and loved by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
As a child, Robbie had an affinity for shoes and loved nothing more than following in his dad’s footsteps by running the house in Joe’s work boots. He loved cars and trucks from early on, especially his Ford Mustang peddle car. As he grew, so did his love for Ford trucks (especially the red ones since this was the only appropriate color for trucks, according to Robbie).
The Michigan State Spartans just lost its most loyal fan. Robbie loved nothing more than sharing Spartan football games with his mother, especially when they rolled over their rival U. of M. Wolverines.
Rob had a deep passion for the outdoors. He loved hunting large game in Michigan, Wyoming, and Canada with his son and members of his N.W.A. group (no women allowed). He loved camping under the stars with a good roaring fire. He taught his son and other nephews how to fish the “Pytel way”. Boating with Rob was always an adventure – full of unexpected endings.
In his role as purchasing manager for Valenite, Robbie was a true professional when it came to dealing with vendors and loved nothing better than coming out on top of a negotiation. He was proud of his company, his teammates, and their accomplishments.
Robbie was a parishioner at St. Valentine Catholic Church for 25 years and grew in faith as he became a Knight at the Monaghan Council Knights of Columbus. He was involved in many community service activities including President of the Redford Union School Board.
Robbie was proud to be an American but was equally as proud of his Polish heritage, and kept a home with many Polish traditions.
Robbie was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, and friend. His infectious smile and laughter will live on in our hearts. We are so honored and blessed to have had him in our lives. His beautiful spirit will bless every day of our lives and his love will live eternally in all of us.
