It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rosalie America Wolicki, age 77, of Livonia, Michigan, on October 28, 2025. Rosalie was born on January 6, 1948, in Dearborn, Michigan, to the late Tindaro and Giovanna Paratore.
Rosalie’s middle name, America, carried deep significance. During World War II, her mother and sister were unable to return to the United States and spent several years in Italy, caring for their family’s home through challenging times. When the war ended, they were joyfully reunited with Rosalie’s father after nearly ten years apart. Filled with gratitude to be home again, her parents named their daughter Rosalie America — a lasting tribute to their love for their country and the blessing of being together again.
Rosalie was a proud graduate of Fordson High School, Class of 1966. After graduation, she began a career as a secretary at General Motors World Headquarters before devoting herself full-time to raising her family and creating a warm, loving home.
In 1969, Rosalie met the love of her life, Melvin Wolicki, at a dance in Dearborn — a moment shared with her dear friends Rose and Cheryl. Rosalie and Melvin were married on October 17, 1970, and shared a beautiful, devoted marriage for 54 years, until Melvin’s passing on October 28, 2024 — exactly one year before Rosalie’s own passing. Together, they built a life centered around faith, family, and love.
Rosalie had many passions and creative talents. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, sewing, drawing, and coloring. In her younger years, she loved cooking homemade pasta and sauces, and baking beautifully decorated cakes. Her deep Italian roots showed through her love of food — she found joy in gathering family around the table, sharing her favorite recipes, and making sure everyone had seconds. She was blessed to travel to Hawaii twice, and visited Europe, creating cherished memories along the way.
Rosalie was the matriarch of her family — the heart that kept everyone connected. She loved to text her children and grandchildren daily, sharing news, family updates, and little things that made her smile. She was known for her kind heart, warm smile, and ability to listen with genuine care. She was active in support groups and found great joy in caring for her beloved grandchildren.
Rosalie was the loving mother of Sandra (Ray) Hibbard, Mark (Elizabeth) Wolicki, and Lisa (Erick) Giovannini. She was the proud and adored Nonna of Dominic, Luke, Henry, Johnny, Ryan, Gemma, and Audrey.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Melvin Wolicki; her parents, Tindaro and Giovanna Paratore; and her beloved sister, Angeline Ferracciolo.
She will be dearly missed by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd, Livonia, MI 48152. A Rosary and memory-sharing service will take place at 7:00 pm.
Rosalie will lie in state on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 9:30 am to 10:00 am at St. Priscilla Catholic Church, 19120 Purlingbrook St, Livonia, MI 48152, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. She will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Memorial Park.
