

Loving father of Taryn and Nick Petryk. Cherished brother of Henry, Nina (Steve) Sucharski, the late John (Olga), and the late Michael. He will be deeply missed by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his siblings, Steve was preceded in passing by his beloved wife, Mary Lou, as well as his parents, Petro and Luba.
Steve was born on June 24, 1946, in Arolsen, Germany, and immigrated to the United States at the age of five with his parents and sister. He was raised in Detroit, Michigan, where he graduated from Chadsey High School, RETS Electronic School, and later earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Siena Heights College in Adrian. A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Steve served aboard the USS John W. Thompson (DD760) from 1965 to 1969. He went on to build a successful 35-year career in the automotive industry at Essex, United Technologies, and Bosch, contributing in various roles across Sales and Product Management. In retirement, Steve embraced his creative spirit—finding joy in photography, crafting mosaics, treasure hunting at estate sales, gardening, and soaking in the serenity of nature and waterfront life in Melbourne, Florida. He shared 44 memorable years of marriage with his wife, who preceded him in death in 2016.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 14, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd, Livonia, MI 48152. He will receive military honors at 7:00 pm.
An in state will occur on Wednesday, October 15, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am at St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, 6340 Chase Rd, Dearborn, MI 48126, followed by a funeral mass beginning at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
