

Bill grew up in Clawson, MI and moved to Dearborn at the age of 16 where he began working at his uncle’s gas station. After graduating from Fordson High School, Bill enlisted in the Navy and served in World War II, returning to Dearborn in 1945. Soon after he met Helen, his future wife. Bill and Helen lived in Dearborn, Livonia, Charlevoix and lastly Canton.
Bill worked at Winchell’s Auto Repair for many years before starting his own business, D&H Frame and Axle in Warren, MI. Bill met and hired “my 5th kid, Kevin ” at D&H. Bill then bought Ernie’s Auto Parts in Harrison Twp. Later he and Kevin partnered to purchase Gil’s Northwood Collision in Clawson.
Following his retirement, Bill dedicated his time to various community endeavors in Charlevoix. He offered mentorship at the elementary school, volunteered at the local food pantry, at the community churches' donation store, and at a Bible study held for inmates at the county jail. Bill also attended a men’s multi denominational Bible study and ushered at church.
Bill was a man of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing moments spent with his loved ones.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Helen J. (Papineau) and his grandson, David A. Fraser. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Robert (Kathy), Thomas (Lori), Karen Roberts, and Kimberly (Jack) Allen. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Kelley, Adam, Jason, Amanda, Michael, Lindsay, Aaron, Jamie, Scott, Whitney, Sam, and John; along with 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM on Sunday, June 9th followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd, Livonia, MI 48152.
