Mrs. Christel Peterek

Mrs. Christel Peterek passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in London, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 91. Born on July 23, 1934, in Wanne-Eickel, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, Christel lived a life marked by deep faith, devotion to family, and a joyful spirit that touched all who knew her.

Now, she is among the Church Triumphant; reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husband, Guenther Peterek (2014), and her parents, Eduard and Erna Gorgol. As a devoted Mother, Oma, and UrOma, Christel leaves behind her son Ralf (Gwen), grandsons Nicholas (Abbey) and Christian (Samantha), and her treasured great-grandson Charlie.

She will be deeply missed by her sister Gerda Henze and nieces Yvonne Chapin (Shawn) and Andrea Pollard (Darrin) and families.

Christel found great joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. She was known for her warm hospitality and exceptional culinary talents, especially her delicious Deutsche Kuchen, which she lovingly shared with friends, including her cherished Kaffeeklatsch circle. Whether hosting outdoor barbecues, enjoying picnics, preparing elegant meals, or spending time camping in her younger years, Christel embraced every opportunity to gather with those she loved.

She and her husband Guenther shared a passion for travel, creating lasting memories on road trips in their VW Westfalia Camper van and on cruises to destinations far and wide. Christel’s laughter, kindness, and generous spirit made her a dear friend to many.

In Holy Baptism, Christel was imbued with a wonderful Christian Faith, through which God the Holy Spirit had many opportunities to do His good work. While in her earthly life, in the Church militant, Christel was both sinner and saint. Sinner, by inheritance, from our first parent, Adam. Saint, by virtue of the second ”Adam”, being Christ the Lord.

Now, only by the merit of her risen Lord, Jesus Christ, does she enjoy the Heavenly Feast with all the saints.

Glory be to God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; one God, now and forever. Amen.

Visitation will take place at Needham Funeral Service, (520 Dundas Street, London), Ontario, on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 1449 Brydges Street, London, Ontario, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, 493 Springbank Drive, London, Ontario.

Christel will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she enriched.
