Donna was a brave woman that was short in height but tall in spirit. She lived by her own rules and on her own terms. She had a vivacious personality and always made people laugh while making friends and a lasting impression to all those who knew her. Donna was a long time employee of London Life where she worked in the Building Services Department.
Donna was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 317 in London, where she volunteered her time and played competitively with her local dart team. She spent a good deal of time at the legion with her husband Dave Diggs at functions and league activities.
Donna had a wonderful talent for crafts, such as knitting, ceramics and crocheting. Her creations of beautiful dolls, blankets, clothing and housewares for her friends, family and needy children were always appreciated. She had a love for all kinds of games, but had a fondness for bingo, playing slots at the casino, solitaire, hearts, Yahtzee and watching the Blue Jays on television.
She made every opportunity to travel often and annually spent summers in her home province of Nova Scotia with her sister and family. Donna loved to talk to people from all over the world and listen to their stories. She loved gardening, garage sales and sitting outside on her porch to wave hello to people passing by. She was always learning something new and had attended Wheable Adult and Continuing Education School for adult education and received an award in recognition of her lifetime learning achievements.
Donna was predeceased by her sisters Dorothy and Mildred, her brother Phillip; and her parents Mary and Arthur; her grandchildren Mary, Adam, Eric. She is survived by her husband David Diggs; Son Fred; Daughters Roxanne and Marcy; Sister Patricia; Grandchildren Melissa, Amber and Mike; Great grandchildren Jermaine, Hayden and Sienna.
She was treasured her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and they will all miss her voice, laugh, personality and presence.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 317) 311 Oakland Ave, London Ontario on Saturday October 19, 2019 from 1pm – 4pm.
