Dorothy Maxine Boam (nee Thompson) in her 90th year passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, May 5th, 2018 at Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care in London, Ontario. Beloved wife to the love of her life, Daniel Burton Boam (1988).
Loving mother of Linda (John) Woods, Nancy (Rob) Cordell, Cindy (Wayne) Fitt. Cherished grandmother of Robert (Robyn) Woods, James (Amber) Woods, Andrea (Gareth) Bishop, Darren (Rachel) Cordell, Tracy (Rob) Jonkhans, Trevor (Crystal) Cordell, Brandon (Brie) Cordell, Tamara (Stephen) Corby and Tyler Fitt. Loving grandmother to ten great grandchildren.
Fondly remembered by her brothers Murray (Elaine), Jack (Ann) and sisters Helen Thompson and Alliene Dowswell. Predeceased by her brother Barry Thompson (2010).
Mom was born in Listowel in 1928 and raised in Parkhill. She had keen interest in art at an early age and moved to London when she was seventeen to attend the H.B. Beal art program. She enjoyed working as a pharmacy assistant at various drug stores, Cairncross, Chapman’s and Dean Russell’s, all of which were located along Dundas Street in Central London. She loved to write in her journal and had a voracious appetite for books from the Cherryhill Public Library.
Mom was a long time member of Centennial United Church & Wesley-Knox United Church.
The family is grateful to Chartwell Riverside Retirement Home and Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care. We have been truly blessed for the loving, compassionate care provided for our mom over the last year.
Arrangements will be handled through Needham Funeral Service.
Visitation will take place on Friday, May 11th, 2018 at Wesley-Knox United Church, beginning at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:30am at Wesley-Knox United Church, officiated by Rev. Tracy Crich-Butler.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation or the London Food Bank.
