Dear Nancy, Lisa and families -  it is very rare for friendships to endure through four generations.  Our Babas were best buds and how we loved to hear their hilarious stories.  My mom and Elsie were the best of friends, bound together especially throughout their musical training.  My dad and George were navy pals and lifelong friends.  Nancy, Lisa, my sister and I had our share of adventures when the parents went out dancing.  Then for a brief time our children connected during family gatherings.  Amazing!  Elsie has been a very special, dearly loved second Baba for me.  Her lively spirit, sense of humour and infinite kindness will be remembered always.  She and my mom, Jess,  will be making heavenly music together.

Nancy, Lisa and families: It is very hard to think of our world without your Mother.  Elsie was a very strong woman with a beautiful countenance. She was a faithful and true friend and will be deeply missed.

I have known Elsie all my life. She was a special person. She and my Mom would call each other to catch up and before they know it an hour had passed. By the end of the call they had solved all the world's problems and felt better.  My Mom is no longer here, in my heart I know they are together solving the world's problems again.

We cannot express enough how deeply sorry we are  to have lost such a spectacular woman from all of our lives! Our Aunt Elsie had such a special way about her that made you want to never leave! She was so loving  and kind but what really stood out was her sweetness and warmth! There was this feeling that you would never want to go away when she was  present! She said the funniest things that would make you smile and laugh and we will always remember you as the most fun loving person in the world!

Elsie was one of my Mom's oldest friends.  I remember her great sense of humour and lively spirit, at Music Nights at my parents' house, and also on the Russia River Cruise in 2007.  I know she will leave a giant hole in the hearts of  many.  RIP, Elsie.  I hope you are singing and dancing with all of your friends again.

A visit to the Horton Street Boys and Girls Club

My Great Aunt Elsie was such a kind person who loved her family dearly and was a delight to be around. When I was a kid, she and my Great Uncle George bought me a shirt for my birthday that I loved and made me feel like a rockstar. I also appreciated that she sent me birthday cards throughout my younger years. I’ll miss this bright Taurus star and I’m so grateful I got to celebrate her 98th birthday with her.

I met Elsie threw my wife when she came to our home a few times.  She was a lovely lady I enjoyed her company and hearing her stories about her childhood memories and her family. Rest in peace Elsie Rob Ackland  (Roz's husband)

I met Elsie threw my sister Maxine and what a gift.  I became very close to Elsie she was a treasure. Always kind to everyone she met. Never had a bad thing to say about anyone she was a true lady through and through. I can't thank my sister enough for introducing me to her and to her family for allowing me to be a part of her life. You will always be close to my heart Elsie for ever and ever. I love you Roz
