Lubertus "Bert" Renes

RENES; Lubertus “Bert” July 18, 1927 –November 3, 2015. Passed away Peacefully at PeopleCare. Bert was in his 89th year. Loving husband of Josie Renes (VanGoethem) Predeceased by his wife Albertje Renes (Schurink- 1991). Father to Tonnie (Cees) Westgeest and Johan (Sharon) Schurink. Grandfather to Mark (Tirza) Westgeest and Great-Grandfather to Sam Westgeest. Stepfather to Nancy (Bruce) Cater and Step-Grandfather to Heather, Tiffany, Bryan and Tyler Cater. Survived by his sisters Henie (Joop) Matthysen and Eef Wagemaker, both of Michigan. Brother in law to Henry (Ingrid) Wygergangs, Peter (Nellie) Wygergangs of Sarnia and Pam VanWyk of London. Bert was Born in Utrech, Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1960. After coming to Canada Bert had a long career as a welder with General Motors in their diesel division. Bert was a very active outdoorsman and loved to Kayak, windsurf and sail his boats; He was also a veteran of the Dutch Armed Forces; and a long time member of the Fanshawe Yacht Club and the Dutch Canadian Society. Bert was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who asked. He will be dearly missed. Friends and family will be received at NEEDHAM FUNERAL SERVICE, 520 Dundas St. London on Thursday November 5, 2015 from 2pm -4pm and from 6pm -8pm. Funeral Service on Friday November 6, 2015 in the Needham Funeral Chapel at 10am. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or to a charity of choice.
