Predeceased by her parents George and Emma Hart, her sisters and brothers-in law, Dorothy Ogglesby (Dick) and Florence Jones (Frank), her nephew Alan Jones and her great-niece Terri-Lynn Jenkins.
Ruth is survived by her loving daughter Linda and husband Mike Varty, her grandson, her pride and joy, Jordan Varty, her nephews Dick Ogglesby and Ron Jones, and great-nieces and nephews.
Ruth was a long-time member of the Boys and Girls Club seniors’ program where she was very active, playing darts twice a week and bingo. She loved her swimming. Her biggest accomplishment was being in the annual swim-a-thon right up until age 90. She belonged to many bowling leagues over the years with her best friends Ruby and Sadie (pre-deceased).
We would like to thank the folks at Earl’s Court Village, who were very comforting to her in her last weeks. Too many to name, but those PSWs, nurses, management and residents, you know who you are, who went above and beyond to make my mom’s life a little easier, will never be forgotten by our family.
Visitation will be held at Needham Funeral Service (520 Dundas St, London) on Thursday October 30, 2025 from 10 am to 11 am where the funeral service will be held at 11 am. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Donations to the Salvation Army Kettle Drive or Dundas St. Centre United Church Bag Lunch Program would be appreciated. www.needhamfuneralhome.com
