Thomas "Ted" James Froats

Peacefully at LHSC-Victoria Campus on Wednesday January 26, 2011, Thomas James “Ted” Froats at the age of 87. Beloved husband and soul mate for 51 years of the late Muriel (1996). Loving father and father in-law of Marilyn and Gerry Casaubon, Nancy and Gord Enright, Wayne and Barbara Froats, Ted and Mickey Froats, Laura and Mike Christie, David and Shelley Froats. Cherished grandfather of Marc (Karen), Stephanie (Mark), Sean (Lisa), Jennifer (Brian), Kate (Aaron), Danielle (Brittnee), Neil (Jess), Leah, Cameron, Maddison, and Megan. Great grandfather of Colin, Emma, Abby, Lena, Anneliese, Baxter, Ben, and Olivia. Dear brother in-law of Maurice and Sylvia Kempin. Dear uncle of Tom, Don, George Cummings and Samantha Kempin. Predeceased by a great grandson Nathan, a sister Gladys, and 2 brother in laws George Cummings and Fred Kempin. Ted believed everyday was a gift after surviving WWII as a Mid-Upper Air Gunner in the RCAF, parachuting out of a burning plane and becoming a POW for 18 months. During his tour of duty he met and married Muriel in England. He enjoyed a long and happy marriage. From Kirkland Lake to London, Ted had a prosperous and lifelong career with Nabisco/Standard Brands, and was well respected by the sales force under his management. As a founding member of the Huff and Puff Hockey League, Ted was an all round player and was loved by all, even as a referee in his last two years. He will be sadly missed by his companion of 12 years Daphne Southerst and her family. Sincere and deepest gratitude to all of the healthcare team who provided comfort at LHSC-Victoria Campus. Friends will be received at Needham Funeral Service (520 Dundas St. London) on Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm where the funeral service will be conducted from the chapel on Monday January 31, 2011 at 11 am.
