Jack Cecil Petitt

JACK C PETITT, was born November 8, 1918 and died March 21, 2016. He was 97. Jack lost his wife Gloria in 2011. He leaves behind his 3 children Jack, Dianne, Gerard, grandchildren Joe, Brekka, Emily and Elizabeth, and great grandchildren Caleb, Rosie, Frank, Pearl, Luke, Abby, and Dixon. Jack lived the history we so often hear about in our classes. Jack was a career Navy man. Jack saw the beginning of WWII as a Pearl Harbor Survivor, and a witnessed the end at the signing of the Peace Treaty in Tokyo Bay. He met Gloria when his shipped docked in New York Harbor. Their romance bloomed while dancing to the greats like Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman and Harry James in the famed New York dancehall, The Roseland. In 1948 they married. Gloria and Jack spent their 63 years together in Long Beach, CA. He was a devout Catholic, loved his family, and was a dedicated Navy man until the end. Although he will be greatly missed, we know how he longed to be with his beloved Gloria. We celebrate their reunion. We love you Dad. Rest in peace, and know you will always be in our hearts.
