Ly Sitech Tan, 75, of Long Beach, California, passed away on January 31, 2025. He was born in Cambodia on November 9, 1949, and later moved to the United States where he built a life filled with love, laughter, and memorable experiences.
In 1979, Ly married the love of his life, Kim Hong Ung Tan, with whom he shared a deep and lasting bond. Together, they built a family and a legacy of strength and warmth.
Ly had a long and successful career as a chef, he was a true connoisseur when it came to food, especially when mom was cooking, which he held in the highest regard.
Beyond the kitchen, Ly had a love for poker and enjoyed the thrill of the game. He also had a distinctive sense of humor that could light up any room, often making those around him laugh with his witty remarks. Ly also had an incredible sense of direction, despite never learning to read—he never got lost. His love for his family was unwavering. While he could be tough on his children at times, his heart softened when it came to his grandkids. To them, he was a gentle and loving soul, always showering them with affection, love, and plenty of sweets.
In his later years, after retirement, Ly found joy in traveling to Cambodia and relaxing with his favorite shows on his iPad. He cherished watching his grandchildren grow, and reveled in the simple pleasures of life—a perfect cup of coffee, or a satisfying back scratch.
No matter who came to visit, Ly always made sure no one left hungry. His home was a place of warmth, laughter, and delicious food. His legacy of love and hospitality will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
