Perath Chann

Perath Chann was born on May 15, 1990 to Chann Chhean and Vorn Ven after their move from Providence, Rhode Island to Long Beach, California. He had many nicknames, but was most affectionately known as “Ponchew” to all who knew him. He gave the best bear hugs, had the most infectious laugh and the brightest of smiles.

Despite coming from a very large family, Perath led a quiet and simple life. He enjoyed hanging out at home, spending time with family and friends, traveling, shopping, fishing, camping, exploring the city, eating a variety of delicious home cooked meals, spoiling his nephews, and fixing up his baby, a classic blue BMW. Whether it was cheering on his Lakers, telling jokes to make others laugh, harmonizing with his brothers on an R&B song, or getting fussed over by his mom and sisters, he savored all of those moments.

Perath passed away at home on August 4, 2024 at the age of 34. He was preceded in death by his father Chann Chhean. He will be deeply missed by all, but especially by his mother Vorn, siblings Davy, Veasna, Sopy, Perom, Somaliya and nephews Brian, Zachary and Khauner.
