I loved my Dad every day of my life.

Dad knew that a father's job was very important and he did it really well. He loved his family and made us feel we were special in his heart.
He was there for us, no matter what the problem was. There were many pleas to him - "Dad, I need help, what should I do?" and here he would come, little green toolbox in hand. It never seemed enough to simply say "thank you" to him – he was just happy to be able to help us. 
I enjoyed so many times, just Dad and I, talking and laughing. I loved to make him laugh and to exchange puns with him. No matter what we were doing at the time, we were always talking about interesting things - how something was made, history, how a word or phrase came into being, and day-to-day life. 
 
I loved my Dad every day of my life and will miss him dearly.

We were so saddened to hear of the loss of Mr. Peter Mahnken, our friend from across the ocean.
  As a guest of his daughter Chris, I was privileged to meet Pete in 2001, and instantly liked him. His grace, his love of life, his keen sense of humour. Sometimes I rang him and his dear wife Irene through the night just to hear that familiar Jimmy Stewart drawl. It seemed to me that he was a wise gentleman with many a tale to tell. Pete was of a generation, who gave so much to others, yet remained humble and self effacing. However serious the subject - politics or business, he always had a twinkle in his eye and a clever one-liner.
  Obviously well loved by his family and friends and the wider community, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather; a man, who threw his commitment to both profession and home, epitomised all that is good about the USA, particularly California - open, welcoming and progressive. He was that appealing mix of a man comfortable in his own skin with reverence for history and tradition, yet a brave pioneer open to the horizons of a new world.
  Mr. Mahnkin ushered in a fairer society for us all and in doing so left this world a better place. We know his family loved and respected him so much "this special guy" and our hearts go out to them. We hope precious memories of happy times will comfort them all. We are thinking of Irene, Chris and all of you in California who will miss him so. Thank you Pete, we'll think of you in the shade enjoying your sunny garden. Your spirit lives on.

Chris. I never met your father but I feel by reading about him that he was loved ,and had a good life I know you were very close to him so just think of all the good times he his memory will always be in your heart    Steve Ritter

I never had the honor of meeting Mr. Mahnken but I know by my friendship with his daughter Chris and the attributes she possesses that he must have been a person who loved life, especially his family,and who always had a joke or a smile.

My heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to all the Mahnken family.
