
Phenoy David Mahnken, 92, died peacefully at his home in Long Beach on December 30, 2010. He was born in Paul, Idaho on November 23, 1918. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Irene; their five children, Michael (Arlyne). Suzanne (Jim), Christine, Jean Marie and Steven (Colleen); and grandchildren, Sean, Erin, Rachel, Sarah, Richard, Brian and Kyle; and great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Rayna, Aryssa, Aiden, Chase and Gavin; many nieces and nephews. Phenoy served in Hawaii in World War II as a Navy radar specialist after completing the intensive electrical engineering curriculum known as the Electronics Training Program. He was owner of Mahnken Machine Company in Paramount, CA, working primarily in the aerospace industry. He retired in 1980. Visitation is Saturday, January 8, 2011, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., Luyben Family Dilday-Mottell Mortuary. Private family graveside services at the Riverside National Cemetery.
