

Betty Jean Hardin age 87 of Allen, Texas, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and cherished friend, passed away on December 11th, 2023 after a brief illness. Betty was born on January 15, 1936 to Royce and Mabel Lentz in Carthage, Texas and grew up on their family farm. After graduating from Carthage High School, Betty attended Stephen F. Austin State University majoring in elementary education.
In 1964, Betty met her second husband, Dwain Hardin, through mutual friends Annette and Joe Dean Britton in Carthage, Texas. They married on March 4, 1966. Together, Betty and Dwain raised two sons, Guy and Kevin Jackson, and one daughter, Diana Hardin.
Betty worked in banking at various businesses in Longview including First Federal and Dallas Federal. After retirement, she spent time serving with Citizens on Patrol, Parkway Baptist Church, and volunteering with various community organizations in Longview and White Rock Center of Hope Food Pantry in Dallas. Betty loved travelling, playing bridge with her friends, antiquing in Canton, crochet, jewelry design, and of course cooking. Her chocolate pie was a family favorite.
Betty is predeceased by her second husband Dwain Howard Hardin, her first husband Charlie Kenneth Jackson, her brother Bill Merrill Lentz, and her great granddaughter Abigail Faith Jackson.
She is survived by her eldest son Guy Kenneth Jackson and wife Jackie of Boerne, Texas; Kevin Paul Jackson and wife Garret of Woodway, Texas; Diana Dwain Hardin and husband Alex Uy of Allen, Texas; seven grandchildren: Tyler and Lindsey Jackson, Taylor Buchanan, Lauren Jackson-Airosus, Emily Collier, Derek and Britton Uy; three great-grandchildren Matthew and Hannah Jackson, and Phoebe Buchanan; and her best friend in the whole world, her miniature schnauzer Bella.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday December 20, 2023 at 2:00pm at Lakeview Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior at 1:00pm. 5000 W Harrison Rd. Longview, Texas 75604
