

Mr. Doyle G. O’Neal, 77, of Gladewater, Texas passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at his residence. Mr. O’Neal was born on March 5, 1935 in Moline, Texas to O Z and Ermine O’Neal. He graduated from Lometa High School and attended business school in Austin. He married Mary Estelle Stewart on September 1, 1973 in Arlington, Texas. Mr. O’Neal was a realtor for Coldwell Banker Lenheart and owned Sabine Mini Storage. The O’Neals lived a portion of their lives in Gilmer, TX. While in Gilmer, Mr. O’Neal served as President of the Methodist Men and was on the board of Trustees for the FMUC. In addition to his church work he was twice President of the Kiwanis Club, and President of the Gilmer Chapter of United Way.
Mr. O’Neal was a very meticulous man, and this can be seen from the way he carried himself and from the way he raised and taught his family. He really enjoyed working outside in his yard and planting and raising flowers all around his home. He loved his Lord and is a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Kilgore. Mr. O’Neal enjoyed people and loved country music. Whether visiting old friends or meeting and getting to know new ones, he simply loved talking with folks and getting to know them. Mr. O’Neal loved to fish and was a charter member of the 2nd Bass Club formed in Texas. He even had several trophies to prove how much he knew about fishing.
He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Mary of Gladewater, TX; Daughters and Sons-In-Law: Jana Sue Brooks and her husband David of Henderson, TX; Julie Renee Campbell and husband Glen of Abilene, TX; Jennifer Kay Corley and Husband Greg of McKinney, TX; Sons: Kevin Doyle O’Neal of Gladewater, TX and Ray Settles and his wife Christine of Diana, TX; Grandchildren: Taylor Sprayberry, Jonathan Rucker, Christopher O’Neal, Michael Glen Campbell, Robert Chad Campbell, Meagan Settles, Brittany Yates, Alyssa Fairbrother, Madelyn Settles; One Great Grandchild: Hayden Blayne O’Neal and one sister: Ozina Linholm of Austin. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Kenneth Dale O’Neal.
The family would like to welcome you to visitation at Lakeview Funeral Home, 5000 West Harrison Road in Longview from 6-8 P.M. on Monday, April 16, 2012. A service to celebrate the life of Doyle O’Neal will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home with Rev. Darwood Galaway officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Serving as Pallbearers are Jerry Jouett, Dick Counts, Jimmy Walker, Dan Malone, Christopher O’Neal and Jonathan Rucker. Honorary Pallbearers are Earl Harkins, Billy Foote, and Taylor Sprayberry.
