

She retired after 20 plus years from Sabine Valley MHMR, where she devoted her time to helping others any way she could.
Sister Poe, enjoyed gardening, helping people, and teaching Sunday school. Her lessons are remembered by her students to this day. She played the Organ and the Accordion. Sister Poe once said that her “greatest accomplishments were her walk with God and her children”. She honored her convictions to the fullest and had a great sense of humor. She leaves an incredible legacy and testimony.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, son, Gordon K. Poe and wife Sherrie, daughter, Glenda K. Stevens, son, Kelly G. Poe and wife Leslie, daughter, Jennifer J. Lummus and husband Donny, son, Jonathan K. Poe and wife Dawn, grandchildren, Jadee Stevens, Joshua Stevens, Logan Poe, Emily Strother, Stephanie Lummus, Megan Poe, Gentry Poe, Haley Poe, and Tiffany Lummus. She also leaves her great grandchildren, Riley Stevens, Jackson Stevens, Penelope Strother, Nevaeh Strother, and Chanelle Dorestt-Poe, as well as a sister, Donna Kunkel, and brothers, Monroe Nivens, and David Nivens and wife Marcia, along with numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
The family will receive visitors from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Lakeview Funeral Home. A celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 8, 2016 at Calvary Christian Tabernacle
