

Ruth Elizabeth Short Putman, 98, of Longview, peacefully entered into the arms of Jesus March 24, 2017 at a local hospital. She was born September 10, 1918 in Covington, Tennessee to Ora Myrtle Proctor Short and Martin Wise Short. She married Richard A. Putman September 1, 1934 in Copeville, TX. She loved her Lord, her church, and her family. She was an active member of Mobberly Baptist Church since 1963. She served faithfully as a Sunday School outreach leader and group leader of the TEL Sunday School Class, as well as a GA Leader.
She is survived by her daughter: Lois Nowell and her husband Joe of Longview; granddaughters: Rachel Montgomery and her husband Stacy of Tyler, Sarah Nowell of New York City, NY, Lydia Nowell of Longview; two precious great granddaughters: Anna Grace and Elizabeth Montgomery; brother: Carl Short of Pawleys Island, SC; sister: Marie Short Edwards of Rowlett; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Richard A. Putman; parents, five brothers and three sisters.
A time of visitation with her family will be from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Lakeview Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Mobberly Baptist Church World Missions Offering, or the mission organization of your choice.
