Samuel “Sammy” Thomas Fincher, 73, passed away October 31, 2020 at his home in Longview. He was born September 16, 1947 in Longview, Texas to Finous Monroe Fincher and Ester Alice Dryden Fincher. Sammy worked for many years as a leather maker at Bedell’s Saddle and Tack Shop. This allowed him to be very involved in the rodeo circuit and always be current on the rodeo scene. He rode in the Grand Entrance of many rodeos. Sammy was an extremely talented leather maker. He made belts, saddles, and even leather goods for the law enforcement officers, just to name a few. He also worked for Trinity Rail for 16 years. Sammy loved his family beyond measure and enjoyed all of the family gatherings. He absolutely loved riding his ATV on the family land. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Sammy is preceded in death by his parents; and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his sisters, Mary Nell Marshburn and Fern Richardson; brother, Finous Fincher; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members who loved him. A Celebration Time of Sammy’s Life will be held Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 2-4 p.m. at Lakeview Funeral Home.
