Shirley Davis Coffey

Shirley Davis Coffey, 76, of White Oak, passed away May 30, 2016 at her residence in White Oak. She was born December 15, 1939 in Gilmer to JT Davis and Rosa Lee Fox Davis. She graduated from East Mountain High School in 1958, and went on to East Texas State University, receiving her Masters of Education. She retired from Pine Tree Elementary School after 31 years of teaching 1st grade children. Ms. Davis married Frank Lloyd in 1962 in Upshur County, he preceded her in death in 1973. She later married Irvin Wayne Coffey in July of 1975 in Upshur County, and he preceded her in death April 9, 2009. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano.

Mrs. Coffey is survived by her daughter: Amy Lloyd Hodson and her husband Phil of Judson; son: Gary Coffey and his wife Louise of White Oak; grandchildren: Jason Ice, Joni Ice, Amanda Dornhorst and her husband Christian, Cody Coffey and his wife Sara, Jonathan Hodson and Kellie Hodson; six great grandchildren; sisters: Dottie Gipson and her husband Bobby, Golda Fenton and her husband Lonnie, and Linda Glidden and her husband Larry; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband-Frank Lloyd; second husband-Wayne Coffey; and daughter-Sherry Coffey Simmons. The family would like to say, “Thank you” and express their gratitude to: Dr. Nirmal, the nurses at Texas Oncology-Longview Cancer Center, Heartsway Hospice and Nurse Kellie Lomax.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Greggton First Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Bright and Rev. Phil Hodson officiating. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum under the direction of Lakeview Funeral Home. A time of visitation with the family will be from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2016 at Lakeview Funeral Home. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Greggton First Baptist Church, 4520 West Marshall Ave., Longview, TX 75604, or to Texas Oncology-Longview Cancer Center, 1300 North Fourth Street, Longview, TX 75601.
