She grew up traveling the world with her parents to places like Okinawa, Japan, Edwards AFB in California, Amarillo AFB in Texas, Carswell Airforce Base in Fort Worth and Plattsburgh Airforce Base in Plattsburgh, New York. She focused on her studies in school and of her Catholic faith as a child.
She met the love of her life, Paul Audet, at Carswell AFB in Fort Worth, Texas in 1972. They started dating and when her father transferred to another AFB they continued their relationship seeing each other as often as possible but mainly writing each other. Their relationship grew and she and Paul married on May 19, 1973 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Plattsburgh, New York, and remained married to Paul until her death on January 9, 2021.
As newlyweds, they were transferred to Royal Air Force base in Lakenheath, England. Living off base in Hockwald and then Thetford, they built relationships with other airmen, their wives, and neighbors that they treasured and shared stories of for the rest of their lives.
Terry enjoyed traveling with Paul and saw sights such as the World War II Memorial in Callais, France; tulip fields in Amsterdam; and Big Ben, Windsor Castle and Jesus Christ Superstar at the Palace Theater in London. Prior to having children, Terry and Paul enjoyed the company of their first and most beloved pet, Kelly, a vivacious Irish Setter. After returning from their assignment in Europe, they moved to Langley Air Force Base and lived in Hampton, Virginia.
Upon retirement from the Air Force, they settled in Longview, Texas in 1978 which was their home the majority of their lives. As they approached their retirement years, they bought a small farm in the Pritchett community just outside of Gladewater, Texas in 2015.
While Terry found pride in many things, the love she had for her family was by far her biggest concern. She was blessed with three children – Joseph Michael, Jeremy Scott and Jennifer Michele.
Terry devoted a lot of the 1980’s and 1990’s to schoolwork, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, band practices and performances, choir practices and performances, swim practice and meets. She learned why bb guns were cool and what Dungeons and Dragons was all about. But mostly, she taught her children the love she had for God and the beauty of their Catholic Faith. She always said her greatest accomplishment was that all of her children love God.
As her children attained adulthood, Terry rediscovered her love for books and travel.
One of her favorites was to attend the Scarborough Renaissance Faire in Waxahachie, TX. It reminded her of the festival at Stratford on Avon for Shakespeare’s 200th Birthday, which she and Paul got to attend while in England.
Her interests spanned many facets from beading rosaries, sewing with her daughter, quilting with church friends and crocheting various items for friends and family. But her life-long passion was for angels.
She collected so many angels over the years because many people knew of her love for angels and they presented her with the many gifts. Many Christmas trees have been decorated with her crocheted angels a skill she learned from her mother Almeta.
Terry was well loved by her friends over the years as attested by so many phone calls, text messages and Facebook posts. Messages that often were “Terry was such a sweet and caring woman who always had a smile anytime I saw her” or “Terry was such a wonderful and vivacious lady. Her smile and laughter was infectious.” She even had many people she called her family like Robert and Shawna Bumbard, Marcus Shans, Michelle Lee, Sabine Deutcher, Scott and Colleen Morrison, Paul, Bridget and Celia Uhles as well as Father Mark Dunne to name a few. She will be missed by many people.
She was preceded in death by her sister Angela Testa, and her parents. Left to honor her legacy are her husband Paul Audet; sons Joseph Audet and Jeremy Audet; daughter Jennifer Audet and fiancé Jonathan Langford; brother Joseph Testa and wife Ana; sister Tana Rhine and husband Tom; nephews Zachary Rhine, Joshua Rhine, Noah Rhine, and Nathan Rhine; and nieces Sophia Testa, Olivia Testa, and Julia Testa.
A rosary for Terry will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2021, during her visitation at Lakeview Funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8: pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Theresa Catholic Church in Union Grove with burial at Lakeview Memorial Gardens at 1:30 p.m.
