Yvonne Parkins McReynolds passed away May 15, 2018; she was 89. Born Yvonne Parkins in Waco, to Bereth (Allen) and Paul Parkins, her family followed oil booms first to Borger, and then to Gladewater in 1931, where they each established a law practice. She attended Saint Vincent’s Shreveport, Ursuline Academy, Dallas, and Pine Tree High School. She was a cheerleader and voted Most Popular Girl in her 1945 graduating class. Yvonne’s summer breaks and holidays were spent at her grandparent’s near Clifton, Bosque County. She studied accounting at Texas Women’s University, which led her to a summer job with the payroll department at LeTourneau Industries where she met her husband to be, William McReynolds.
Yvonne was known as “Toots” to her friends and family. Her greatest pleasure was her family, to whom she gave her unconditional love and support. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and group of friends known as “The Dirty Dozen.” Actively involved in the Campfire Girls, Boy Scouts, and Sunday School at the Pine Tree Cumberland Presbyterian Church, she was also an active member of Pinecrest Country Club, The Summit Club, Longview Investment Club, and Oak Forest Country Club. Yvonne volunteered with the Women’s Auxillary, Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, managing events, golf tournaments, and galas to support Bill’s career.
Her biggest talent was her sense of humor, and ability to make friends everywhere she went. She will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, William “Mac” McReynolds, and her grandson Samuel Stafford. Those left to cherish her memory are her son Dr. William E. McReynolds II and his wife Malika, Los Angeles, daughter Betty Stafford and husband Frank, Garrison, NY, son Allen McReynolds, Longview, stepson Michael McReynolds and wife Linda, Somers, WI, stepsister Carolyn Smith Russell, Longview, and her three grandchildren Ashiya McReynolds, Faris McReynolds, and William Stafford.
Special thanks to the nurses and aides at Genesis-Clairmont Nursing Home, and Heart’sWay Hospice for their loving care, and to Debbie, Teresa, and Carleen for the loving care given to Yvonne over the past several years.
