He was born on March 7, 1941, in Los Angeles, CA and no matter how many times he ventured away from Los Angeles, he always returned. Al was an intensely bright and devoted individual, particularly in his practice of law. Known for his tenacity, dedication, and expertise, he specialized in construction law for engineer and contractor clients, taking him on a global journey for over 50 years. Al began his education at Campbell Hall and then attended Hollywood High. As a member of the freshman football team at the University of Southern California, he reinforced his lifelong love for the game and remained a discerning and avid fan. He earned his undergraduate degree from USC School of Engineering (now Viterbi School of Engineering) and passionately supported the football program, basketball and other sports programs as well as establishing scholarships for engineering, physical therapy, and cinematic arts students at his alma mater.
After graduating from law school, Al became a sole practitioner before joining the prestigious Gibbs Giden law firm in 1995 as Of Counsel, where he practiced until his retirement in 2021. Al had an enthusiasm and love for golf, wine, single malt scotch and dancing. World travels and explorations led to fun and challenging golf games, collecting and savoring many different wines, distillery discoveries and tastings. He could dance up a great waltz, merengue, swing, and salsa. Al's enthusiasm for life, great sense of humor and varied interests made him a true joy to be around. His smile lit up the room. He served as a Trustee for Turning Point School and gave freely of his construction expertise to help build the school's Middle School campus. Al was also a long-time member of Bel-Air Country Club. He was actively involved in fun and fundraising for Children's Burn Foundation and fully enjoyed his membership in the West Hollywood Food and Wine Society.
In addition to his successful career and hobbies, Al's greatest joy in the world was his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Lynda Wolfson Fadel, his daughter, Alexandra "Lexi" Fadel, and his son, Landon Avery Fadel. Al cherished his family and friends. He was so proud of his children and their accomplishments. Al was preceded in death by his father, Alfred N. Fadel, and his mother, Adele Barrack Fadel. Alfred Fadel will be remembered for his devotion to the practice of law, his sense of humor, stalwart integrity, and his unwavering support for his loved ones.
