

Alejandro Caluya de la Cruz Jr., a long time resident of the Central Coast, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2016, at the age of 39, surrounded by his family at French Hospital Medical Center. He fought a courageous battle after being diagnosed with cancer in April of 2016. Andy Jr was born on August 23, 1977 in Bakersfield, California to great parents, Alejandro and Filomena de la Cruz. Affectionately known as Andy Boy by his family and many friends, it is easy to recap his accomplishments. He married a beautiful woman in 2011, Cherry Mae, and brought a very special child into this world in 2013, Jocelyn. His life had been filled with great joy and excitement because of these people and all his family and friends that have been so blessed to be in Andy Jr’s life. Andy Jr held many positions during his youth culminating with his custodial position at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, working side by side with his uncles. Andy Jr was an active supporter of the Bay Osos Filipino Community Association. Besides his family and friends, he loved fishing, traveling, gardening, dancing and cooking. Andy Boy was world-renowned for his delicious filipino cooking, handed down from his father and highlighting their ilocano heritage. Andy Boy was also known for his timeless words of wisdom, knack for telling the best jokes and humorous stories. Throughout his young life, people always commented that Andy Jr was one of the most generous and hard working people in their lives, be it a close friend, a colleague at work, or someone he had just met. He was a model of strong will and sheer determination right up until the end of his journey on earth. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Filomena de la Cruz, his father, Alejandro de la Cruz Sr., his mother-in-law, Josephine Lucas, his father-in-law, George Lucas Sr., his wife, Cherry Mae, his child, Jocelyn, his new baby, his older sister, Evangeline Tennort, her husband, Brian Tennort, his younger sister, Ellaine Davies, her husband, Ryan Davies, his two sisters-in-law, Brenda and Sharina Lucas, his brothers-in-law, Karlo, George Jr., Angelo, Wender, and Ron Lucas and his nephews, Jaren and Marius Tennort, Ryan Jr Davies and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his older brother, Allen de la Cruz. Family and friends are invited to a visitation at 4-8 pm, Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Los Osos Valley Mortuary, 2260 Los Osos Valley Rd, Los Osos, CA 93402. The memorial mass will be held at 10 am, Friday, October 14, 2016 at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2050 Palisades Ave, Los Osos, CA 93402 with interment to follow at Los Osos Valley Memorial Park, 2260 Los Osos Valley Rd, Los Osos, CA 93402.
