He lived his favorite scripture to the fullest:
"make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: you should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody." 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12
Dave was a private man who took care of everything and everyone around him. He was a gentle giant who did not require accolades because he worked to please the Lord and provide for his family.
He loved to work with his hands and held passion for carpentry; building houses and crafting many masterpiece projects in his workshop.
His family was his greatest joy to who he provided much wisdom, prayer, and love. A true man of integrity and work ethic, Dave was also a loving and devoted husband to the love of his life, Kim, and was proud to be a father and best friend to his two sons, David and Michael. He took delight in his daughters-in-law and grandchildren.
Dave was born in Merced, California, the only son of David C. and Loyce Safina. Dave grew up in Tulare, graduating from Tulare Union High School in 1976. Dave received his BA from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1980, where he met his wife Kim. They married in 1982, making their home in the central valley and raising their two sons in Exeter, and Cayucos in the summers. In 2007 Dave and Kim moved to the central coast to Los Osos, where he could build a castle for his wife.
Dave was a director and producer for KMPH Fox 26 before starting his own production business, Video-Vision. He became and appraiser SRA co-owner of Centurion & Associates and owner/board member of Kaweah National Bank, Tulare County Mortgage, Aliamo Properties, Tulare County Construction, Diamond Real Estate, Pacific Ridge Real Estate and D.S. Development, as well as being successful as a day trader.
Dave loved studying Christ Jesus' message and attended Rock Harbor Christian Fellowship in Morro Bay, where he was always seated in the very back.
Dave is survived by his wife Kim, married 37 years, his sons David (Alyssa) and Michael (Taylor), and grandchildren: Millie, David Sebastian, and Gwennie (due in September). Dave is survived by his parents David C. and Loyce Safina, Sister Cheryl (Bruce) Bickel, brother-in-law and best-friend Thad Reece (Karen), nephew William, mother-in-law Mary "Grammoo" Reece, niece Lindsey Bickel, and nephew Matt (Noelle) Bickel.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Thad Reece Ministries (882 East Worth Ave., Porterville, CA 93257) and Rock Harbor Christian Fellowship in memory of David Paul Safina.
A private family and close friend graveside service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2020 at 1:00 pm in Cayucos Cemetery.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2020 at 2:30 pm at Rock Harbor Christian Fellowship in Morro Bay, California (1475 Quintana Road, Morro Bay, CA 93442)
