Alice Meme Meyer Glanz

Alice was a 1943 Graduate of Louisville Girl’s High School, attended the University of Louisville and was employed several years with American Air Filter. Following her marriage to Robert in 1949, Alice devoted her life to her husband, two daughters, family and friends. She was a member of Southeast Christian Church for over 25 years and served as a library volunteer where she met and made many life-long friends. Alice enjoyed reading, playing bridge and crossword puzzles. She had an avid interest in history, loved music and was especially fond of traditional Gaither gospel songs. Her concern and love for family and friends was expressed not only through her daily prayers but by her years of diligence in sending thoughtful and encouraging notes.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents, Peyton and Elizabeth Meyer; husband of 40 years, Robert Glanz; nephew, James W. Applegate, D.M.D., and a niece, Barbara H. Manos.

Alice was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her strong faith and trust in the Lord, as well as her compassion, generosity and kindness will be remembered by all those whose lives she touched. She is survived by her daughters, Susan G. Burress and Marilyn L. Glanz; granddaughter Tara A. Malloy (Tony); and great-grandchildren Cruz, Madelyn and Reagan Malloy. Alice is also survived by her sisters, Carol L. Meyer and Frances M. Applegate (Jim); sister-in-law, Dorothy G. Yokom; nephew, Keith T. Applegate M.D. (Lisa) and children Leslie, Stephen, Carmen, Hadley and Reed Applegate and nieces, Jeanne Applegate (Peyton and Anna) and Joy Felts (Tony and Nick)

A celebration of Alice’s life will be conducted at 2pm Monday, September 30, 2013 in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd. with interment at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 3-7 pm Sunday, September 29, 2013 and after 9am the day of the service.
