Benjamin Mapp, Sr. was the second of five children born to Estella Mae Mapp and Earl Mapp, Sr. on September 8th, 1945. He grew up in Frankfort, Kentucky, and gave his life to Christ at an early age at First Baptist Church of Frankfort, KY, and graduated from Frankfort High School. Thereafter, Benjamin, who was often called “Benny” by those close to him, attended Kentucky State University. He first married Jeanie Berry and had his firstborn son, Montobi. In the years that followed, he had his second son, ShonTae, with Bettye Reed. He later married Dr. Renee Campbell and welcomed his third son, Benjamin, and one daughter, Tristan. He was also a stepfather to Phillip Henderson. Benny was a longtime employee of the Louisville Metropolitan Sewer District. In his retirement, he loved to spend time with his family, cook, shop, and watch the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was also a proud longtime member of the Louisville Derby City Steppers and served as their President for a few years.
He was a dedicated father. Warm, generous, & hilarious. He lived life to the fullest. If you knew him, you loved him. We love you so much, Daddy, and will miss you greatly. You are us, and we are you. Your legacy lives on.
