

He was a Veteran Sergeant of the United States Air Force, Director of Derby City Hogs, member of the Patriot Guard Riders, Board member of the Associated Builders and Contractors and an avid U of L fan.
After retirement his love of biking took him to 48 states where he loved to stop at the local mom and pop diners.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of thirteen years, Julia Watson Atherton, his mother; Helen Murphy, six children, Stacy Herdt(Scott), William Atherton(Amanda), Kelli Bright(Jeremy), Jessica Allgeier(John),Rose Helwig(Will), Nikki Diakhate(Malcolm)12 grandchildren, William Logan "Liam", Emerson Leigh(Due in October), Alex, Tray, Jackson, Jacob, Annie Rose, Julia Jane, Lila Sally, William Walter Jr., George, Salma, Reif, and three more grandchildren on the way, Siblings, Irvin Atherton (Debbie), Margie Malone (Kenny), Richard Atherton (Melissa), and Dennis Atherton.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Bill will be held Friday, June 12, 2015 at 12pm at Northeast Christian Church, 9900 Brownsboro Rd. Louisville, KY 40241, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens. A Visitation will be held Thursday at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home-Okolona from 2-8pm.
