Carol Jean Gerlach

Carol J. Gerlach, 85, passed away Monday, January 26, 2015. She was a beautiful light to all that knew her. Her family and friends will forever remember her wonderful smile and the love she gave to them.

Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William C. Gerlach Sr. They shared a wonderful life together and had lives filled with love and caring for one another. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, John J. Birk and Kenneth E. Birk Sr.

Carol is survived by her loving son, William C. Gerlach Jr., his sons, Spenser and Duncan and her great- granddaughter, Aurora. She is also survived by her sisters, Doris Bax and Pat Mitchell (Dick), her brother Donald W. Birk (LaVerne) and her sister –in- law Shirley Birk, and nieces and nephews who adored her. They will miss her deeply.

A special thanks to the doctors and staff at Baptist East Hospital for their caring services and a thank you goes out from the family for chaplain care.

A Celebration of Carol’s Life will be conducted Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 12:00 pm in Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road with a private interment in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 pm on Friday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy are suggested to be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Southeast Christian Church.
