It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Carol R. Lambert (Bodenbender), age 84, of LaGrange, Kentucky, formerly of Louisville. Carol passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, at The Springs at Oldham Reserve, surrounded by the loving care of her family and the compassionate staff who became like family to her.
Born on October 29, 1941, in Louisville, Kentucky, Carol was the beloved only child of Virginia “Gin” and Wilford “Wiggy” Bodenbender. On June 1, 1963, she married the love of her life, Gary Eugene Lambert. Together they shared 56 years of marriage until Gary’s passing on September 11, 2019. Their marriage was a true partnership rooted in love, joy, and unwavering support.
Carol was a devoted homemaker whose warm heart and creative talents touched countless lives. She had a special gift for decorating exquisite cakes, painting beautiful ceramics, and teaching inspiring classes in her ceramic shop and at local schools, where she shared her passion and kindness with so many. A true animal lover at heart, she found pure joy in caring for her pets and, above all, treasured every precious moment spent with family and dear friends, always making everyone feel welcomed, cherished, and loved.
For many years, Carol and Gary lovingly brought the magic of Christmas to the community as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. Whether at private home visits or local events, their generosity and festive spirit created cherished memories and spread holiday joy to families young and old.
She is survived by her loving son, Gregg Lambert (wife Patty); her devoted daughter, Jennifer Hodges (husband Jon); her cherished grandchildren, Kasie Hoover (husband Jamie), Kristin Maguino (husband Joel), and Max Bodenbender; her precious great-grandchildren, Emersyn and Ella Hoover, and Augusto Maguino; and her lifelong childhood friend, Mary Etheredge, with whom she shared so many treasured memories.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate Hospice team for their tender care and support for the past year and during Carol’s final days, and to the dedicated nursing team and personal care staff at The Springs at Oldham Reserve in LaGrange, Kentucky, for the continuous, personal-level attention and unwavering kindness they provided.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 17, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial immediately following.
Carol will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched with her kindness, creativity, and boundless love. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory to a local animal rescue or hospice organization of your choice.
