Dr. Charles Edmond Burgin

Dr. Charles Edmond Burgin, 83, of Louisville, passed away October 15, 2014. Charlie spent 65 years serving the Lord in the Kentuckiana area serving multiple churches and touching many lives, spending many years as pastoral care minister of South Louisville Christian Church. He was the founder of the Christian Institute of Biblical Studies(CIBS), preparing and equipping many to serve the Lord. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Gordon and Ida Burgin; and his grandmother, Mary Jane Pollard. He is survived by his wife, Jean; sons, Robert Charles Burgin, Gregory Dorris(Toni), and Dan Dorris(Melissa); 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; brothers, Chuck(Thelma), Larry(Sandy), Don, and Harold(Mary); and his beloved dog, Molly. Funeral service will be 11am Saturday, October 18, 2014 at South Louisville Christian Church 3845 Southern Parkway, with interment in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 2-8pm Friday at O.D. White & Sons Funeral Home and after 9:30am Saturday at South Louisville Christian Church. Memorial contributions can be made to South Louisville Christian Church, Christian Institute of Biblical Studies, or Kentuckiana Christian Mission.
