

Charles Phillip “Charley” Daus, 81, of Indianapolis, Indiana, died Wednesday, January 27, at Tampa General Hospital in Florida. He was born March 11, 1939 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was the youngest son of Arthur T. Daus, Sr. and Rose A. Weaver Daus, both of Louisville.
Having grown up in Louisville, he attended Church of Our Lady grade school, Flaget High School, and earned a BS in Civil Engineering from University of Kentucky in 1962 where he also played #1 on the varsity tennis team for three years.
He worked for the Organized Crime Strike Force with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms in Manhattan and Brooklyn New York, then relocated closer to home in Indiana as a Special Agent for the US Treasury Department during which time he completed his Master’s Degree in Public Affairs, Criminal Justice at Indiana University in 1977. In addition, he attained his Professional Real Estate and Broker’s License in Indiana.
Subsequently, he returned to his love of tennis as Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach at Butler University for nearly ten years. This also gave him time to pursue his extraordinary love of fishing.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his only brother Arthur T. Daus, Jr., M.D.
In addition to his devoted partner Louise Brown, he is survived by his four children, Jeffrey (Amy) Daus, Kimberly Daus Edwards (Kevin), Catherine Daus, and David (Kelly) Daus; his 12 grandchildren Erik (Meghan), George and Sarah Daus; Joshua, Jacob and Rebecca Edwards; Matthew and Lucille Reinhard; William, Peyton, Micah and Jackson Daus. He was also great-grandfather to Jordan and Avery Daus.
A brief visitation will be held at the Funeral Home of Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Road, Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 9:30 am -11:00 am. Due to Covid restrictions, his family will hold a private service at 11:00 before proceeding to his burial site at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
