David J Schmidt

David J. Schmidt, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. He was born on November 9, 1941, to the late Frederick and Mary Schmidt. David proudly served in the United States Navy. He retired from Publishers Printing. He later served as a jailer. David loved spending time with his wife, Katherine, and children, Mary Ann and Brett, playing basketball with Brett, loved animals, watching movies, watching and talking about all sports, and University of Louisville Cardinals. David had a wonderful sense of humor and loved making everyone laugh.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years; Katherine "Katie" Schmidt, daughter; Erica Martha Schmidt, mother-in-law; Anna Barbato, brother-in-law; Thomas Armstrong, and aunt; Martha Wade.

Left to cherish David's memory are his children; Mary Ann Patterson (Michael) and Brett Schmidt (Laura), grandchildren; Aaron Patterson (Coral) and Dylan Schmidt, and his close friend; Tommy Dockery.

A visitation for David will be held Monday, March 24, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Highway, Louisville, KY 40213. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Evergreen Funeral Home. David will be laid to rest at Brookland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Kentucky Humane Society.
