Doris S. McQuese was born Doris Elizabeth Shepherd on November 14, 1922 in Louisville, Kentucky to Mabel Bertha Wernz and Carl Zoeller Shepherd. She married Oris Charles Brown on May 2, 1942 in Galveston, Texas. Doris was the mother of two children, Ralph Charles Brown and Sherrill Elizabeth Weis, who both predeceased her. Doris passed away at 103 years old on April 29, 2026.
On June 2, 1968, Doris married the love of her life, John Charles McQuese. Doris and Jack were married for over 35 years. They enjoyed traveling together, ballroom dancing, and tai-chi. Doris was a lifelong Louisville resident, attended Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, and enjoyed hymns, poetry, and quilting. Doris is survived by four grandchildren, Noah Weis, Zoe Weis, Gabriel Brown (Ruth), and Andrew Brown; as well as two great-grandchildren, Harper Brown and Walker Brown.
Visitation will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky, on May 4, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location beginning at 12:00 pm. She will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
