Dorothy Elizabeth Heckel (Gash), 86, died Tuesday, Sept. 27th, 2016, at her home surrounded by the family who loved her. She was a devoted wife and mother, always putting the needs of her family ahead of her own. She was a member of Parkland Baptist Church, and the Esther Sunday School class. She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Edna Gash, her husband of 43 years, Leonard “Bill” Heckel, and a grandson Curtis Heckel. Survivors include her sons, Gary (Jenny) and Terry (Diana), of Louisville, and Dan (Sherri) of Owensboro, her grandchildren, Darin, Dean, Max, Jenna, and Rachel, and a great-grandson, Jayden. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 8pm at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home, 8519 Preston Hwy., and Friday from 8-10am. Funeral services will be Friday at 10a.m. in the Arch L. Heady chapel, followed by entombment at Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Dorothy’s honor can be made to the American Cancer Society or Parkland Baptist Church.
