

Elmer J. "Doc" Williams, 90, of Louisville passed away on the evening of July 14, 2011 at Christopher East HRC to be with his wife Lorraine Williams. He was born November 20, 1920 in Warrenton, Missouri. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II as a gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress the "Wicked Wack". He was shot down on October 8, 1943 over Bremem, Germany and spent 19 months as a prisoner of war in Stalag 17-B Vienna, Austria. He was liberated by General Patton's army on May 2, 1945. After leaving the Air Force he married Lorraine T. Williams of Van Cleve, KY on July 15, 1945 and had two sons.
He became a lifetime salesman extraordinair, (he could sell your shirt back to you)! Elmer had worked in sales for Jewel Tea Company, Americana Encyclopedia, United Electronics Institute, and owned a construction company business. Elmer had also been a member of Meadowview Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his sons, Floyd and Wayne ( Miriam) Williams; grandchildren, Seth and Jennifer and three great-grandchildren.
Elmer's Celebration of Life service will be held onTuesday, July 19, 2011 at noon, at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with interment in Resthhaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11 a.m. till service time at the funeral home.
