Elwood Louis Summers, age 97, of Shepherdsville, Ky passed peacefully at home on Monday, March 23, 2026. Elwood was born on March 17, 1929 in Louisville, Kentucky to Annalee Loveland and Virgil Summers. He was married to Helen Mills Summers for 69 years and they had two children, Jerral and Deborah.
In addition to his wife and parents, Elwood was preceded in death by his siblings Albert Lee, Janice, Augustine, Francis Louise, Owen Conrad, Carolyn, Joseph Virgil, Theodore Loveland, and Donald Lee.
Elwood is survived by his son Jerral (Trina) and daughter, Deborah Clark (Steve); three grandsons, Jonathon Clark (Elizabeth), Nathan Summers (Meagan), and Christopher Summers; two great-grandsons, Dominic Clark and Zachary Clark.
Summers was a Navy veteran serving on the U.S.S. Gainard DD 706 from 1946-1948. Elwood was a retired Vice-President of Jim Beam Brands, enjoying traveling with his wife, golfing, gardening and making wine.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 2nd, 2026 from 4pm-7pm at Arch L. Heady Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Rd., Louisville.
Funeral Service will be held at Arch L. Heady on Friday, April 3rd, 2026 at 10am. Entombment will follow at the adjoining Resthaven Cemetery.
