Frances M. Yount (born Frances Marie Weigel on May 23, 1941) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, after a brief hospitalization. Frances preferred her titles of Mom, Mamaw and Memaw.
Frances was born in Louisville, Kentucky and attended Catholic Schools before marriage to her children’s father, where she shined as a dedicated home maker and mother to her three sons, daughter and any of their friends who needed a hug, guidance or a good meal. Frances took great pride in preparing family meals for not only the holiday occasions, but her most cherished time, when her family were together.
Once her children had families of their own, Frances naturally became a kind, loving and generous grandmother, always eager and willing to share her time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her love of family, Frances was a loyal and devoted Catholic, who prayed for all souls and for a good parking spot, which was usually answered in a matter of a few minutes, or longer. She would not accept that circling a parking lot and the law of averages rendered the prize spot, but insisted God answered her prayer. She passed with her Rosary in her hand and God smiling upon her lifetime of kindness and compassion.
Frances was predeceased by her mother, Florence Weigel, her father, William Weigel, and her brother, Bart Weigel. She is survived by her brother, Bill Weigel, and her loving children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: John T. McMahon (Kim) and their children Josh McMahon (Sarah) and their two daughters, Adam McMahon(Courtney), Hannah McMahon, and Micah Eldridge; Joe McMahon (Beth) and their children Kayla McMahon (Scarlett), Brandon O’Bryan (Jessica) and their three children; Bart McMahon (Beth) and their daughters Claire and Laine; and, Jennifer Eberle and her sons Jacob Eberle, Andrew Eberle and Evan Eberle.
Arrangements are scheduled at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4440 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky, with visitation Monday, April 15, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, with her memorial service to follow and interment at Resthaven.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that expressions of sympathy be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Catholic Charities of Louisville.
