He was born December 9, 1923 in Nelson County, KY, the son of Frank S. and Ida M. Geoghegan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and the love of his life, Shirley Geoghegan.
Franklin was a Biology Teacher at the Kentucky Country Day School for many years where he took a special interest in Environmental Education. He was a longtime member of Melbourne Heights Baptist Church and a WWII United States Army Veteran and a graduate of Male High School, Kentucky Southern College and Western Michigan University.
He leaves to cherish his memory two nephews, Steven and Dan Geoghegan; his great niece and nephew, who he thought of as grandchildren, Travis and Cassie Geoghegan and two great-nephews, Kurt and Tim Geoghegan; as well as a very close family member, Amey Geoghegan.
A service to celebrate Franklin’s life will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 16, 2014 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village 7410 Westport Rd. Visitation will be from 1-3 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of customary expressions, donations may be given to Habitat for Humanity.
