

George M. Grimes departed this life February 26, 2013, at Robley Rex Va Medical Center. He was the son of Jessie Grimes and Aubrey Martin Mayberry. He accepted Christ at an early age. George was 18 years old when he was inducted in the United States Army on July 22, 1943, he served as a Rifle Marksman and served in the Pacific. While serving in the Army, he earned 6 medals, World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American, Theater Medal, AP Theater Ribbon and on Bronze Service Star.
When his serving in the Army ended, he met and married his late wife Annie L. Foster. They were married for 63 years and had 11 children. George worked very hard all his life to take care of his family, and he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his wife Annie L. Grimes and 2 daughters Brenda A. Barker and Pamela K. Dailey. He leaves to cherish his memory to his sister Beatrice Kinzer and children. George, Gloria, Helen (David), Jerry, Milton, Rodney, Dewane, Charles, Gregory and 20 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren along with a host of loving relatives and friends.
A Home Going Service to Celebrate George’s Life will be conducted at 10:00 AM Friday, March 8, 2013 in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady Russman & Sons, 1201 E. Oak St. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
