George Phillip Rapson Jr.

George Phillip Rapson, Jr., 73, of Louisville, passed away May 5th, 2011, at his home in Jeffersontown after fighting a long battle with Cancer. He was a member of Foster Avenue Baptist Church and a prior member of Hopewell Baptist Church. Mr. Rapson was retired from GE where he worked as a sample model maker for 39 years and 7 months.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George P. Rapson, Sr., and Stella Mae Rapson.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Jo Rapson and their children: Valerie Heckman (Jerry), Michael Rapson (Cindy), Steve Rapson (Kristi), Robert Rapson (Eydie) and Regina Thoman (Greg) and his sister Patsy Stoess; 15 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren. And many thanks go to his honorary son – Ed Cravens.

Visitation will be from 10:00AM-8:00PM on Saturday and Sunday at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home located at 4400 Bardstown Road in Louisville. Visitation will also be on Monday from 10:00AM until Noon at the funeral home, with additional visitation at Hopewell Baptist Church beginning at 1:00PM, and the funeral service immediately following at 2:00PM at Hopewell Baptist Church, with the Rev. Danny Payne officiating. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Foster Avenue Baptist Church, 525 West Evelyn Avenue, Louisville, Kentucky, 40215.
