passed away Dec. 10th, 2025 with a heart full of love and a life full of stories. He loved fast cars, good laughs, and never missed a practice or a game — showing up with the same energy he brought to every joy in his life. He never met a stranger and could talk to anyone, anywhere, anytime.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Martin and Mary Agnes Lomax; his brothers John, William, and Donald; his sister Jean (Lomax) Baunach; and his former wife, high school sweetheart, lifelong friend, and the person his heart never truly stopped loving — Julia Lomax.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Tina Lomax Merideth and Brent Joseph Lomax; his grandchildren, Shawn Joseph Cook and Mary Ana Cook; and his new great-grandson, 4-month-old Ezekiel Garcia-Cook. He is also survived by his sisters Joan Farris and Ann Ray, who loved him dearly and stood by him through every chapter of his long, full life.
He loved golfing, fishing, hunting, and cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats. Some of his happiest days were spent at Barren River and on the annual family trips to Sarasota FL soaking up sun, water, and laughter — places where he felt most at peace.
He retired from Southern Gravure Service in 1998 after 37 years of dedicated work.
He will be remembered for his big laugh, his bigger stories, and the light he brought into every room.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY, 40218, with a funeral service in Jerry's honor to follow at 1:00 PM. Jerry will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.
“As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.” – Proverbs 27:19
