Hurley was a Marine veteran of World War II. He also was a retired sergeant from the Louisville Police Department. Hurley was a Kentucky Colonel, a Shriner of Willis Stewart Lodge 224, a member of American Legion Highland Post 201 and a member of DeMolay (Grand Master Knight's Templar).
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary T. Thompson; a sister, Lori Miller of Indianapolis, IN; two brothers, Leo Thompson of Texas and Russell Thompson of Rockport, KY; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Hurley's celebration of life will take place Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown road, with private burial in Resthaven Memorial Park.
