We attended and served through Woodland for 2 1/2 years in the early 90's.  We love and miss the Elder-Ryan family.  Jane know that you and the whole family are in our thoughts and prayers.  Love in Christ.

I knew him as "Jack" Elder, Christian, player and coach! I attended  Woodland Baptist Church with him and played on the church softball team with him. He was the best softball coach that I ever played for. He just had a way of getting the most out of his players. He would take two fingers and point them at his eyes and say "watch the ball and get a hit".
I also had the pleasure of working with Jack at Spring Meadows Children's Home. He was in charge of maintance and gave the kids jobs so they could earn some spending money. He loved his job and enjoyed working with the kids. He would ask the kids a question and when they gave him the answer he would say "I knew that, I was just testing you".
I will remember the good times that I had with Jack and my thoughts and prayers go out to his loving family

Jack Elder--there's none other quite like him.  He brought such zest, like no other, to our Sunday School class when he was able to attend.  He surprised us sometimes by the vast amount of knowledge he had, both historical and Biblical.  And I'm guessing that none of the rest of us have had the life experiences that Jack had.  What a unique individual. He definitely made a difference in the world, and it will not be the same without him.  He will be greatly missed by many. May God give each of you comfort and peace.

Martha, Jane and family - What a blessing Jack was to know and love.  He was a great man!  I can still hear his voice calling me "Little Laurie Streible" whenever I think of him, and I get the biggest smile.  Since I was unable to make it to the service, I light this candle to show my love and admiration for him.  God bless Jack's soul and God bless you all.

Thinking of your family today. Jack always made a point to talk to everyone! Loved that about him. Prayers for a good day of laughing at his past stories and remembering him.

My name is Stacey Wallace, I am a friend of Martha's.  I didn't know Jack very well, but I did know that he was a very loving man.  He loved his granddaughters more than anything.  He was so cute when he talked to Martha, he adored her.  I always told Martha that he was the cutest little old man.  My heart goes out to the Elder/Ryan family.

Martha, our thoughts are with you today as you have the Memorial Service for Jack. He was truly one of a kind and will be missed by those that knew him. We always remember him as a great friend while we lived in Louisville.

I have met many people in my life and I have to say that Jack was probably the most genuine person I have ever met. The first time I met him I had just moved to the area, we sat and talked for hours just like we were old friends who hadnt seen each other in a while. His stories about baseball, his family, his wife, the army and just about every other topic that one could think of. Even though I didn't really know him that well, when we would run into each other we would talk about something different everytime the break of dawn.. He had that effect on people.. I'll miss that , he truly was a special person.

Martha and family - through the many years with Bluegrass, Jack was always a great friend. We will all miss him.

You are such a wonderful family....My thoughts and prayers go out to you especially at this time.
