He was a retired truck driver for Martin Brower and Teamsters Local 89, an Army veteran, and a member of Cub Run Masonic Lodge 910 and American Legion Post 200.
He was a former member of Greenwood Baptist Church and Valley Masonic Lodge 511. Jim was also very proud of having been a transport driver for the Apollo 11 program.
Jim was preceded in death by his brother Donald Lee Carroll; a sister, Valeada Dessauer; and a daughter, Sherry Lynn Carroll.
Survivors include his sons James M. Carroll, Jr. (Yvonne) and Gary L. Carroll; daughter, Karen Jameson (Austin); sister, Dalena Oberting; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and his surviving partner, Patricia Carroll Louden.
His funeral service will be held at 12:00 Monday at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Hwy, followed by entombment at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Saturday and 12-8 pm Sunday.
