James Brown Greer, 82, of Louisville, passed away December 11, 2011. He was a retired power engineer for South Central Bell after 42 years of service, an Army veteran of the Korean War, and a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Telephone Pioneers of America, and KY Bluebell Campers. He was also a former volunteer for the Fern Creek Fire Dept. and a KY Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Latta Greer.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lamont Greer; children, James P. Greer(Ana), Kathy Greer, and Carol Goodwin(Brenden); grandchildren, Caitlin Goodwin and James A. Greer; brothers, Marcus Greer(Eileen) and John Greer(Donna); and sister, Janet Graviss.
A funeral mass will be held 10am Wednesday at St. Athanasius Catholic Church 5915 Outer Loop with interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8pm Tuesday at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home 8519 Preston Hwy.
